Let's Talk Wedding Photography.

Well I guess I'm a "graduate" now hey.
I might as well pass on a few tips and tricks.
.
Let's start with Wedding Photography.
.
We got a BARGAIN for our Wedding Photography.
Thanks to "mates rates" (one of the BMs works at the studio and is friends with the girl) it cost us $500 for 5hrs of photography.
.
The photographer arrived at our house at 1:30pm.
My girls weren't even ready.
I wasn't ready.
Tip #1: TELL YOUR BRIDESMAIDS TO GET THERE 2 HOURS BEFORE THEY REALLY NEED TO!
I kid you not, 3 of my bridesmaids were 1.5hrs LATE.
I..... was...... ANGRY
.
Months before our wedding (maybe even 6 months) we met the photographer for the first time. We had coffee and cake and discussed how the day would run and what sort of shots I would like. I was that anal I provided her with a CD of 100 shots.
TIP #2: Just because you provide your photographer with a CD full of shots you like, send them 100 emails with new sample shots, AND discuss them, this does not mean they are going to actually do what you say!!!
I hate overly posed shots. I hate shots that just look so fake and un-fun. Guess what I got? 185 photos of people looking stiff!
BF#1 hates it when I complain about our photos - "We can't change them now, just pretend you like them, be positive not negative".
Some of the shots are great (Clearly I am only showing the great shots LOL) but some of them I just think WTF was she thinking. I especially thought about that when it came to the BUM SHOT!!! (No joke she took a photo of me from behind hugging BF#1, it was the most unappealing photo in the world!!)
.
I was REALLY looking forward to doing the moustache shots. I'd had the fake moustaches sitting in the cupboard for 3 months! They were going to be a highlight for me.
TIP #3: Do not let your flowergirl have a hissy brat fit wanting to "hold" your props. She WILL forget them thus making you miss out on the shots all together!!!!!
I was completely shattered but the photographer suggested we would do it when we got back to the house for the reception which leads me to this last tip;
TIP#4: Make sure your bridal party realises they are to LEAVE as a bridal party, not with their ex boyfriends or other friends etc, "Getting lost" and turning up to the reception 2hrs late!
Can you believe it, honestly!? So there went my moustache photos!
.
So here are a few hand picked shots from our wedding, minus the moustaches : )

(The shot of the girls all over the place is exactly the style shots I wanted! We would have missed out on this one if while we were having the "bride and groomsmen shot" I didn't tell the photographer to turn around and shoot the girls!)

I'm so sorry you had some negative experiences on the day, but I would love to hear about what went RIGHT! :o)
